#AskPostPickr: How do I connect my Telegram channel?

John Doe: Hello PostPickr, I heard of the latest news about Telegram channels integrations. Wow!

PostPickr: Cool, uh? Would you like to know more about it?

JD: Actually yes, I’d like you to explain how I can connect my channel to PostPickr. I’ve been asked to enter the token of the Bot that manages my channel, but to be honest I don’t have a Bot, nor even a token…

PP: That’s OK, I can explain you why. You can manage a telegram channel through an external tool (like me) only with a Bot, that is a virtual account having more or less the same features of a personal account. For simplicity’s sake, we can say it is an intermediary between me and your Telegram channel.

JD: Ok. So, how can I create a Bot?

PP: It’s very simple and quick. First open your Telegram account in your phone or browser, type @BotFather in the search field and then click on the hit:

You will be showed a window containing info about BotFather. As the name suggests, this Bot is for generating and managing other Bots. Then, click on “Start”:

Now you’re ready to create your Bot. Click on the command /newbot or type it in the message field and then send it:

Give your Bot a name:

Go ahead and choose a univocal username for your Bot. Its name must end with the word “bot”:

Congratulations, you have just created your first Bot! :)

These are the basics you need to know. If you want, you can edit your profile pic, your bio etc., but it is important for you to take note of your Bot token, that you’ll have to paste into the specific field contained in the channel connection window in Postpickr:

JD: Ok, got it.

PP: To make your Bot the admin of the channel you want to connect to Postpickr, do as follows:

  • Open Telegram and select the channel Info;
  • Select Admins > Add Admin
  • Type your Bot username in the search field (for example: @PPdemo_bot) and select the hit to add it:

JD: Alright. Actually, it’s a piece of cake to create a Bot and add it to my channel! So, now how can I connect my channel to my Postpickr Projects?

PP: As usual, click on the Telegram icon in “Connect your social channels”, follow the steps and enter the Bot token and your channel URL when required:

JD: Wow, you’ve been clear and… telegreat :-) I’m gonna check it out right now!

PP: Enjoy your test, John. And don’t forget to share a feedback with us!

      A presto!

    • Ciao @@kzippu:disqus , in effetti è molto strano! Hai provato ad effettuare la ricerca sia per nome del Bot che per @username?
